Wearing Your Newborn by Emily Tripp at The Sling Shack

Wearing your Newborn

One of my favorite smells in the whole entire world is the smell of a newborn babe. My baby is almost nine months old and as I type these words I can still smell what he smelled like when he was a wee one just home from the hospital. If you are a mum like me you want to bottle that newborn goodness up and put a cap on it. Since we can’t really do this and since each day we have with that little baby is precious time, wearing your baby is a way to cherish those moments that fly by so quickly.

Baby wearing is becoming more popular with each passing day and why wouldn’t it because it has so many benefits. Benefits of wearing your newborn or preemie include: being able to get things done while holding your little one close to you, making it an easier transition for baby from womb to world, helps baby with physical development, great way to help burn the butter, and helps baby feel secure and loved.

I loved wearing my newborn baby in a stretchy wrap like the Moby Wrap or the Sleepy Wrap. They were held so close to my heart and I loved the comfort of a wrap. Newborn babies also love to be held in the cradle position in a pouch sling or a ring sling. Slings make it easier to nurse as well.

The newborn days go by so fast. Make sure you are doing something about cherishing each moment that you have with your baby. If you haven’t tried it, slingin’ is a great way to love your babe.
