since we have a very busy toddler we can't go out late and my husband works late so I try to cook a good meal or do something nice for him around the house. amsbolda@hotmail.com

We usually celebrate by going to a fancy restaurant that we would never usually go to. Before my son was born, we would even go to the casino. Thanks for the chance.

We actually like to keep special days a bit low key. We spend them together. We have dinner and we make sure that no matter what we are doing it is something that allows us to talk and share the time (as in..not a movie! LOL!)

Congrats! When it comes to celebrating events, I like to keep things a bit on the low-key side. Having close friends and family over, making a huge meal for them all and maybe a couple of cocktails ;D

Hmm. How do we celebrate...in the 5 years I 've been married we've done a lot of different things, from just a bouquet of flowers and home cooked meal in our little living room to an extravagant dinner at the Melting Pot. But what worked out the best was a trip into Bellevue WA to stay at the Westin hotel for my husbands birthday. We got a shoppers package, and were given $100 a night to spend at the adjoining mall, and upgraded from a basic room to an executive corner suite with views of Seattle, that water, Mt. Rainier and the Cascades...everything Washington has to offer. It ws wonderful, we plan to make it an annual tradition.

We like to go out to eat at a fancy restaurant to celebrate. We also like to throw little parties "just because" all the time to celebrate. We love any little excuse to celebrate!!

I love to celebrate with my family -- 3 and 5 year old included. We dress up and go to a restaurant or dress up and put candles on our own table at home. A walk along a river is also romantic. Happy Anniversary! Thanks for the giveaway... mybabyappleseed(at)yahoo(dot)ca

I like to celebrate special occasions with some friends, good food, maybe some alcohol, good music and a cake(you can never go wrong with cake...unless you're my best friend who doesn't like cake...).

I celebrate by taking the day off and spending it with friends/family or fiance! I try to do something special, but not spend a lot of money. It's usually me conceding to the fiance for a night of video games! I know...not the most exciting, but it makes him so happy!

We celebrate special occasions by getting a babysitter for the whole night. That way we can go to a fancy dinner and stay at a bed and breakfast. It is so fun to get away even if you stay in town!

We celebrate special occasions by getting an overnite sitter and booking a room in the city and having a very fancy dinner out with a nice bottle of wine. Usually this is only done on our anniversary as we are both so busy with work and kids it's hard to plan just a get away for no reason.

First off, a big CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU on your upcoming wedding! My best wishes to you and your soon to be HUSBAND!

To me celebrating a special occasion is not about where you go, how much money you spend, or how extravagant the celebration is. To me it is about giving of your time, quality time is what's important and memorable. My favorite place to celebrate a special occasion is right at home in the kitchen with all my friends and family around. I don't do all the cooking, but rather it is a festive event where everyone plays a role in participating to create a savory meal. There is always festive music playing, usually Jesse Cook type music, and I provide all the ingredients for the meal, but everyone is free to open the cupboards and add their own unique touch to whatever we are cooking, and there is always much fine wine, laughter and great conversation flowing. People talk about our dinner parties for months on afterwards. Whether it is about the wonderful meals we all created, the funny dance moves of one of our friends, or something funny one of kids said, we celebrate and we remember that special occasion. Thanks so much for letting me share my story! Thanks so much for the opportunity to enter.

Congratulations to you!

We celebrate birthdays by having family and close friends over for dinner and cake. For our anniversaries (we have 2 as we got married in North America for my family and again in the Philippines for his), we go out for a romantic dinner at a special restaurant (ie., one that frowns on bringing the kids - we don't get ot those much).

Lovely jewelry! Congratulations on
your marriage. My husband and I celebrate all of our holidays alone so they are always quiet. We usually go out for dinner on special occasions because it's not in our budget to eat out very often so we really enjoy that. Next month we will be celebrating our 25th anniversary but we don't buy each other extravagant gifts. We enjoy quiet evenings of staying home and being a family with our dog. :)
